Sacrament of Marriage
The Cathedral is currently booked for the rest of 2025. We are accepting inquiries for weddings with anticipated dates 12-18 months from the time you are reading this. The longer end of the range is for international couples. Please be sure to read this entire page in its entirety.
Overview
Guardian Angel Cathedral is the Metropolitan Cathedral for the Archdiocee of Las Vegas, which includes all of southern Nevada, and two suffragen dioceses (Diocese of Reno and Diocese of Salt Lake). In effect, the Cathedral serves all Catholics in the States of Nevada and Utah. This presents unique scheduling requirements, which are not present in any other Catholic parish in Nevada or Utah.
With this in mind, all weddings are held at 11 AM on select Saturdays. All wedding rehearsals are held at 1 PM on the Friday immediately proceeding. We do not and cannot host weddings or wedding reheasals at any other time.
Guardian Angel Cathedral hosts weddings, provided all requirements are met at least ninety days in advance. This means that the marriage preparation process is already completed and cleared through the Metropolitan Tribunal, which is why we require twelve month lead time for domestic weddings and eighteen months for international weddings. To inquire, please click here.
We recommend that you contact your parish priest or our priest before setting any dates with reception venues. Many couples try to book a reception venue and then the church, which presents many problems. This is especially true in Las Vegas. We recommend that you do not book any venues, hotel rooms, photographers, etc. without completing the initial phase of marriage preparation.
Please know that there is no such thing as a “fast tracked wedding,” even in Las Vegas. At Guardian Angel Cathedral, we require twelve month (domestic) to eighteen month (international) lead time. All paperwork must be received to the Archdiocesan Tribunal Office a minimum of three months before your scheduled wedding, or we reserve the right to cancel. We do not expedite weddings under any circumstances.
The Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Las Vegas requires all paperwork to be submitted to them at least ninety days before the wedding. Without the paperwork, a Catholic wedding cannot and will not occur inside the Cathedral. Once again, we retain the right to cancel the wedding and no longer hold the date if all paperwork isn’t received by the Metropolitan Tribunal at least ninety days before your wedding.
The Metropolitan Tribunal has created a comprehensive guide of what’s required to get married in the Catholic church here in Las Vegas. Please click here to learn more.
Blackout Dates

The following dates/months are blacked out for weddings with no exceptions:
- All of December
- January 1 through January 21
- 5th Week of Lent through Pentecost
- All of May
To Place a Hold on the Cathedral
- Reach out to your neighborhood parish priest to begin the pre-Cana process. Explain to your priest that you would like to get married at the Cathedral for the Archdiocese of Las Vegas.
- Your neighborhood parish priest will need to prepare a letter stating that he is preparing you for the Sacrament of Matrimony.
- Your neighborhood parish priest (assuming he is not the pastor of the parish) will need to get a second letter from the pastor of the local parish stating that the pastor has given permission for you to receive the Sacrament of Matrimony at a location other than your registered parish. If the priest preparing you for the Sacrament of Matrimony is also your pastor – all churches do this a little bit differently – than this can be an added statement on the letter required in No. 2.
- Your priest will need to establish that you are in fact “free to marry.” This means that you are (A) not already married (B) if previously married and civilly divorce, an annullment has been granted. If you are not free to marry, your neighborhood priest will need to work with you and your local Judicial Vicar to lift the impediments.
- Once you have secured (A) Letter from parish priest stating that he is preparing you for the Sacrament (B) Pastor provides permission for you to receive the Sacrament outside of your normal parish (C) It is established that you are free to marry, you are almost ready to place a hold on the Cathedral. You will then need to pay the 50% non-refundable deposit to formally place a hold.
Please note that all of the above steps must be taken to place a hold. Simply emailing the Cathedral Office and asking if the date is available is not enough. Having your neighborhood priest only complete No. 2 or No. 3 without the rest of the documentation and deposit does not constitute a hold.
The Metropolitan Cathedral of Las Vegas serves the entire community of the faithful in the area. Time is a precious resource at the Cathedral, which is why all of these requirements are put in place.
